June 14, 2025  –   We are very proud to have been chosen by the Archdiocese of Chicago to supply an organ for a Special Mass to Celebrate Pope Leo XIV at Chicago’s Rate Field (home of the Chicago White Sox).  Rodgers Organs Chicago has provided organs for several  major masses in Chicago.   The most prominent of these include the Papal Mass in 1979 and the “Field of Faith” in June of 2000 (which was the largest outdoor mass to date in Archdiocesan history).   Halfway through this mass a severe storm hit the Chicago area drenching the faithful and the priests serving communion.  Cardinal George said “This has been the most effective sprinkling rite in the history of the Catholic Church.”    The entire orchestra had to leave as rain was blowing in from all sides of the musicians tent, however organist Tom Weisflog just kept playing and improvising at the Rodgers organ until the communion was over.

More than 30,000 tickets to today’s event have been sold.  The program will include music, prayer, speeches, and Pope Leo XIV’s first public address to an American audience.   The pre-service program will include a representative of the White Sox, and a choir from Leo High School, an all-boys Catholic school that appeared recently on “America’s Got Talent.”  Afterward the event will transform into a full mass led by Cardinal Cupich and a leader of the Augustinian order to which Pope Leo belongs.  There are many volunteers assisting in the service – 200 choir members and 500 lay people to assist with the distribution of communion in the ballpark.
