The organ world lost one of our finest ambassadors for the organ on Monday 2/28/22, namely Dr. Joyce Jones. We had the pleasure of hosting and working with her several times in our area. She was always kind, considerate, very skilled and demonstrated an impeccable pedal technique (with the “Flight of the Bumblebees” for pedals). She will be sorely missed by folks from all over the world.
Here are some photos of Joyce at: the Fellowship of American Baptist Musicians Conference (Green Lake, WI) and at St. Michael Catholic Church (Wheaton, IL) in 2019, where she played a recital on their “Great Music in a Great Space” Concert Series.
Here is a link to her Obituary from the AGO Website.
There is a short video at the end of the obituary which shows Dr. Jones playing the Ruffatti Organ when it was installed decades ago at Baylor University — one of the first Ruffatti Organs installed in the United States.
