Our Rodgers 4-Manual Hybrid Organ @ St. Michael the Archangel Church, Wheaton, IL is being featured once again this week on PIPEDREAMS. The compositions being played are “Flourishes,” by Carlyle Sharpe, and “Polka & Fugue” from Schwanda by Jaromir Weinberger. Featured on the recording is Chicago’s premiere Brass Ensemble – The Gargoyle Brass and Organist, Jared Stellmacher.
The instrument currently has 39 ranks of pipes and over 100 digital ranks. The pipework was built by Rieger-Kloss, Moller, Stinkens, and A.R. Schopp. The mechanical drawknob console was built by Rodgers. It offers over 100 digital stops and is interfaced to some selected Walker digital voices. There are three un-enclosed divisions and two expressive divisions. There are even two divisions (one expressive) near the console and choir seating area at the front of the worship space to effectively lead worship from both ends of the room.
